TATIANA BLANCO

Tatiana Blanco was born in San Jose, Costa Rica, in 1984. She is a multi-media artist and sculptor and divides her time between Miami, Puerto Ricom and Switzerland. She graduated ffrom Franklin College with a Bachelor of Arts in Visual Art and Communication in Lugano, Switzerland. Prior to this, Tatiana Blanco studied at the Liga de Arte Plastica in San Juan, Puerto Rico and finished her education there in 2005. Her work has been included in over forty group exhibitions in Puerto Rico, the United States and Europe and she has had over seven solo exhibition over the last decade in Miami and Puerto Rico.
Tatiana Blanco always refers to the figure in her sculptures. Her artwork is influenced by real figures and her technique is a contemporary interpretation of the traditional form. She portrays her life expereience through human form and seeks to communicate through her figures' body language. Communication between Tatiana Blanco and her artwork, and between her sculptures and the audience is paramount. Her current work focuses on portraying the universal interconnectedness between living beings. Some of her sculptures are made with aluminium ribbons, referring to dentritic nerves that communicate within the brain or artieries that transport blood and oxygen through the body, while some of her sculptures are casted in fiberglass or can even be casted in bronze. The poses of Tatiana Blanco's sculptures are visually sti;ulating and appealing and as the artist states "modern, zen-like, and at times pre-historic".
